Health, Safety and Environment complement an Industrial Enterprise. At Petron Engineering Construction Ltd (PECL), we have been earnest and forthcoming to ensure the safety of our precious Human Resource and the Environment in which we operate.
The importance we attach to safety in our operations could be understood by the fact that PECL has an independent Health, Safety and Environment team headed by a General Manager reporting directly to the Managing Director. The direct reporting line helps in taking prompt decisions cutting across departmental hurdles for Health and Safety issues.
In the year 2013, the company has been honoured, acknowledged and appreciated for its prudence on safety aspects. For example PECL been recognized by Indian Oil Corporation Ltd for the valuable contribution made towards achieving Two Million Safe Manhours at Paradip Refinery Project. PECL has also been honored with ‘Certificate of Appreciation’ by National Safety Council Awards Committee for its two significant project sites at IOCL, Paradip & Lafarge, Chittaurgarh for appreciable achievement in Occupational Safety & Health.
These achievements have been made possible by strict adherence to the clearly defined HSE Policy, which has helped us secure Integrated Management System Certificate for ISO 9001 : 2008, ISO 14001:2004 & OHSAS 18001:2007.
Safety is probably the first lesson a new employee in our Company learns. From training on Material Handling, Fire-Fighting, Hazard Identification, Rescue Training, we also focus on job-specific Safety Drills like Training for Crane, Hydra & Winch Operators. Celebration of National Safety Week, Fire Services Day, special Toolbox Talks is an integral part of our Work Culture.
A project executed with high safety standards doesn´t go unacknowledged. The Company felicitates employees with monthly Safety Awards at project sites.
We have also developed training modules for Competency Assessment for all skilled levels like Riggers, Scaffolders, Electricians, Crane, Hydra & Winch Operators. The employees after the completion of the training receives a Competency Assessment Card signed by site HSE Head & Resident Construction Manager.
Taking a step further, we focus on Employee engagement by holding Health checkup camps on the site and hold special functions on “ World Environment Day ” and “ No Tobacco Day ” to spread awareness among one and all.
Customer feedback for us is a critical input in developing the overall HSE policy. It keeps us in pursuit to constantly upgrade our Safety standards and ensure that we run a safe project site from commencement to completion.
